A great family vacation can be an excellent way to celebrate your loved ones and make memories as you escape the everyday grind. Still, with so many destinations to choose from in the US, it’s difficult to choose. Here are five popular family-friendly vacation destinations to help you decide.
Boston, Massachusetts
Boston is reported to be a surprisingly relaxed city for its size. It’s got great parks, points of interest, history, and culture too. Sports fans can visit famous Fenway Park, home to the Red Sox baseball team. Catch a game or take the guided tour and take in sports history. Visit the New England Aquarium and see the enormous ocean tank. Hop aboard the Boston Duck Tour and see the highlights of the city on by land and sea.
Anaheim, California
Naturally, Disneyland Park is the biggest draw for any family heading to Anaheim. It features rides and attractions for people of all ages, world-famous characters to meet and greet, and the larger-than-life, regularly-changing Disney experience. If you want to enjoy Disney on a slightly smaller scale and you have very young children, then you should check out Adventure City which includes a mini-train, shows, and rides. You can stroll down Downtown Disney, too. You can also enjoy the famous Flightdeck Flight Simulation Center, the MUZEO (art museum), and the Anaheim Garden Walk.
Washington, DC
Make this vacation both fun and educational. Visit the iconic government buildings and well-known landmarks such as the White House, the Pentagon, The Washington Monument, as well as the Lincoln and the Jefferson Memorials. Experience all there is to see and do at the famous Smithsonian Mall including the space shuttle Discovery, the Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton, and the original “Star-Spangled Banner.” See the aircraft at the Air and Space Museum, the Declaration of Independence and Constitution of the US at the Archives, and the local major league baseball stadium at Nationals Park.
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
Gettysburg is a picturesque place that is full of Civil War history. Here you and your family can take an enjoyable, educational tour of the infamous Gettysburg Battlefield, the Shriver House Museum, and the famous National Military Park. Witness historical Civil War reenactments, shiver at ghostly tours or grab a comfy seat on a guided bus tour of the town and learn about all of its significant sights as history comes alive.
Utah Valley, Utah
Located in Utah County in North Central Utah, exploring Utah Valley is a very family-friendly and budget-friendly vacation for many visitors. It includes such cities as Orem, Provo, Lehi, and their numerous suburbs. The locals call the area “Happy Valley” and it’s sometimes known as a type of urban Eden. Visitors to Utah Valley may wish to camp, hike, or bike in the local Provo and American Fork Canyons, stop by the large and centrally located Utah Lake, explore the two local universities (Utah Valley University and Brigham Young University), and visit historic sections of town such as Center Street in Provo.
